Breakout Artist Sombr Debuts “Back to Friends”

  • May 30, 2025

Back to friends continues to take off worldwide, debuting across three Billboard charts last month—a career first for the rising artist—where it has reached #10 on Hot Rock and #13 on Hot Rock & Alternative songs charts.

Since its release in December 2024, the track has accumulated over 71 million global streams across platforms—and continues to rapidly accelerate—entering Spotify’s U.S. and Global Daily Charts as the highest new entry. It’s hitting new peaks outside of the U.S., including in the U.K., where it’s rising on the Official Singles Chart, Canada, Australia and more.

sombr recently collaborated with 2025 Brit Awards nominee Rachel Chinouriri for a new version of her hit song, “All I Ever Asked.”

A New York-native raised on the Lower East Side, sombr—born Shane Boose—started making music in his bedroom while studying classical music as a student at the prestigious public school, LaGuardia High School. His breakout hit “Caroline” (2022) took the internet by storm, and he has since released a series of EPs and singles, climbing to over 13 million Spotify monthly listeners. Now based in Los Angeles, sombr continues to explore young romance and heartbreak through his music—all of which is self-written and released via Warner Records.
