AFROBEATS SUPERSTAR JOEBOY REUNITES WITH TEMPOE ON MESMERIC NEW SINGLE ‘SMH’
Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Joeboy makes a triumphant return with his brand new single, ‘SMH’, produced by renowned hitmaker Tempoe.
Released via Young Legend in partnership with Warner Music Africa, ‘SMH’ is a hypnotic fusion of Afrobeats and rich Indian/Middle Eastern influences, offering fans an enticing snapshot of what to expect on the 27-year-old’s anticipated third studio album, set for release in the near future.
Speaking on the message behind ‘SMH’, Joeboy shares:
“There’s a certain clarity of mind that hits you when you finally understand that not all relationships are supposed to last forever. Some are better as phases with lessons to learn – Simple as. Whatever seems to be missing no matter how hard you try is missing for a reason.”
Short for ‘Something’s Missing Here’, ‘SMH’ sees Joeboy and frequent collaborator Tempoe once again join forces, crafting a track that pushes creative boundaries while maintaining Joeboy’s signature melodic touch. Built around a mesmeric Indian/Middle Eastern-inspired sample, the song’s infectious vibe is driven by intricate percussion and a lush production that elevates Joeboy’s smooth vocals as he taps into an irresistible but toxic love affair whilst exploring new sonic territory.
Tempoe, the mastermind behind Joeboy’s previous hits ‘Sip (Alcohol)’ and ‘Door’ featuring Kwesi Arthur, continues to shape the sonic landscape of contemporary Afrobeats. His production credits include Victony’s ‘Soweto’, Omah Lay’s ‘Understand’ and ‘Godly’, as well as the global smash ‘Love Nwantiti’ by CKay featuring Joeboy. With ‘SMH’, Joeboy and Tempoe once again prove their undeniable chemistry, delivering a track that captivates from start to finish.
The release of ‘SMH’ arrives hot off announcing his 2025 world tour, which will see the Lagosian take his live show across multiple continents. The tour kicked off with sold-out shows across Australia in January, with a flurry of dates across Europe to follow including Copenhagen, Rome, Milan, Stockholm and Amsterdam. The Nigerian will then tour the UK, taking in headline shows across Manchester, London, Birmingham and Leicester this June.
