“
“Victony’s sound is defined by his unforgettable falsetto, but it’s also in the well-considered writing, where you can connect with experiences, existential musings, and a groovy playfulness” – TEEN VOGUE

This project follows a banner year for Victony. Riding high on the immense success of his hit song “Soweto,” that has over 1 billion streams, also received critical acclaim and inspired multiple remixes, including one with Don Toliver and Rema. He also collaborated with Grammy-winning producer Rexxie (Burna Boy, Angelique Kidjo) to release the double single “Nataraja.” Having explored various versions of himself via Afrobeats, Victony is bringing his ambition to the global stage. “Right now I’m putting all of the Victonys together to give my fans a special Victony,” he says. “That’s where I want to take Victony next.”
These accolades, including a Billboard Music Award, has led to his highly anticipated album Stubborn. The album comes with a slate of global features and rising stars that will continue to shine light on Victony’s unique style and path as he carves his own lane in African music. Artists featured on the album include heavy hitters such as Saint Jhn, American rapper Teezo
Touchdown, chart–topping Afrobeats singer Asake, and Shallipopi. The album Stubborn, caters to a diverse audience. His infectious party anthems like “Ludo” get crowds moving, while insidiously feeding ‘alternative’ soulful music to a core group of listeners. The same subset of his mainstream fans of Outlaws that groove to his hits alongside everyone else, eventually retires from the dancefloor, as they head home where they spend the night’s melancholy singing along to peculiar cuts such as “Tiny Apartment,” and “risk.”
And sometimes, he plays the middle, finding new ways to marry both sides with varied results. His mastery on “Sunday School,” “Bastard, Don’t Be Silly,” “Stubborn ft. Asake,” makes him poised to be Afrobeats next big crossover star. As a benign consequence, he’s developed a multi-layered fanbase. A fine mix of hedonistic revellers and real lovers, the kind to pack out halls. All of those might elevate his position, but the artistry is what has given it substance. Enough to have people yearning for a big live concert in December.
